Megan Fiore, Psy.D., RPT-SLicensed Clinical Psychologist, Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor, Owner
I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and also am certified as a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Siena College in Loudonville, NY, and continued my education by pursuing a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University at Albany, State University of New York. In 2008, I graduated with a Doctorate of Psychology from James Madison University’s Combined-Integrated Clinical and School Psychology program.
Prior to creating Alexandria Place Therapy in 2013, I had the opportunity to work in various clinical settings, including residential and outpatient treatment programs in both New York and Virginia. I have had the opportunity to teach undergraduate and graduate students at both James Madison University and Johns Hopkins University, spanning more than a decade and focusing on Introductory Psychology, as well as various Play Therapy courses. Throughout my career, I have been fortunate enough to work with and alongside a wide variety of clinical experiences of children, adolescents, and adults. Clinically, I provide individual, group, couples/parenting support, and family therapy for clients coping with anxiety, depression, trauma and loss, relational struggles, and adjustments to life stage changes.
In thinking about how to best describe my professional framework as a clinical psychologist and play therapist, I believe my work is deeply rooted in the concepts of social justice, equality, and acceptance. My goal is to support my clients by making space for and validating their emotional experiences, and supporting their ability to make positive changes that can have profound and long-lasting impacts on their daily lives. Throughout my career, I have continually been humbled by the honor of building therapeutic relationships with so many clients seeking positive change and growth in their own individual lives and in their relationships to others. Being able to bear witness to a client’s healing is a deeply profound experience that truly defines my work as a therapist.
I am grateful to be in a professional field that supports the pursuit of lifelong learning. Currently, I am committed to deepening my own cultural consciousness, reflecting on the many inequities that negatively impact my clients, and how I can continually show up as an ally to my clients and their loved ones.
Megan has specialized training in both play and expressive therapies and is a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S).
Dr. Fiore has experience providing individual, group, couples, and family therapy, as well as psychological assessments. Presenting concerns addressed in treatment include complex trauma, depression, anxiety, anger, adjustment and loss. Dr. Fiore also conducts parent-child assessments and provides treatment to support healthy parent-child relationships.
